Their social classes had many tiers of power. With this social social stratification the social structure usually had a noble or land- owning class on top and masses of peasants and slaves at the bottom. as well as a powerful priestly group figured in the elite. An example of the social classes in Mesopotamia can be seen in the Code of Hammurabi. This set of laws was present in Sumer and the laws were not completely fair between the different levels of social class. Even though Ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia were similar they also showed many differences.
